Worlds Shaped from Clay, Traditions Born from Hands!
This year, from 18 to 20 September 2026, the 4th edition of the Transylvanian Crafts Festival will take place at the Târgu Mureș Fortress.
Centuries-old knowledge, the craftsmanship of artisans and respect for the past come together at this event, bringing Transylvanian traditional culture to life. The organizers aim not only to preserve the heritage of our ancestors, but also to transform it into a living tradition that is constantly reinvented while preserving its authenticity. Crafts are a treasure that can only be kept alive through practice – and this event seeks to preserve and pass on this living flame to future generations.
This year, CLAY will be at the heart of the event. This ancient material creates a profound connection between people and nature and has shaped our everyday lives for centuries. The rich world of pottery and ceramics will be reflected throughout the programme: wheel-thrown vessels, decorated objects, and traditional and contemporary creations will highlight the beauty of this craft.
Visitors will have the opportunity not only to admire the artisans’ creations, but also to experience different techniques themselves: working on the potter’s wheel, decorating, and the traditional “writing” technique using a horn tool – discovering first-hand the magic of working with clay.
The event will feature craft demonstrations, interactive workshops, a craft market, pottery and ceramic modelling demonstrations, thematic exhibitions, ethnographic lectures, and traditional folk music performances.
